Tonight’s home game was about more than just soccer, it was about community and support for others. Tonight we were Bobcat Strong for a community in mourning. CP-U started the game off quickly by scoring within the first 30 seconds of the game, but our team responded quickly and held off CP-U for the remainder of the first half. The girls showed how strong there were tonight, they came together and played bobcat soccer for the rest of the first half. The second half the bobcats played great until a second goal caused them to break momentum which led to the third goal. After the third goal the bobcats played tough and fought for the remainder of the game. Playing a tough opponent like CP-U and only losing by three is a great accomplishment. Five years ago we would not have been able to play competitive soccer against CP-U and now we can…this just shows how much we have grown as a program. I am very proud of the way my team handled themselves tonight both on and off the field. This is truly an amazing program!
Tonight the team showed me their competitive nature and willingness to never give up. Even when we were down they all pulled together and rallied to make it a 2-1 game. I am very proud for the way the team played this evening. We are a young team with only 6 upper classmen in our starting lineup and have a lot of bonding to do throughout the season but we are “Bobcat Strong” and will bounce back for our next home game against CPU.
Before we started today’s game, I told my team that this year was going to be special. We have a new look, new attitude and new team. We are ready to work hard and push the limits to succeed on the field. Tonight’s game showed me that I was right. This team went out on the field and worked together to put together a 5-0 win over Vinton. Goals were scored by Madison Simon, Kayla Guedenkauf, Chloe Baumgartner, and McKenzie Wendling.
The girls showed me something special tonight as they scrimmaged against Maquoketa. This win showed me that a young team could be successful and will be able to fight their way to the top of the WAMAC Conference in 2015!
